The IFSD Forum 2008

The IFSD Forum 2008 will address the theme of Human Capital Development for Islamic Financial Services Industry:

Challenges and Initiatives. The Forum will highlight the role that various stakeholders at macro, meso and micro levels need to play in developing the required human capital for the Islamic financial services industry.

Levels of Stakeholders

At the macro level, there is a need to have dialogue with the formulators and regulators of the national educational policies that determine the educational curriculum and govern it at all levels of the educational system (high and higher secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels and religious educational institutions (madaris). At this level the most pertinent policy option for dialogue is the introduction of Islamic finance courses at various levels of the educational system.

At the meso level, there are key institutions engaged in capacity building such as specialized training institutions, consultancy organizations and professional bodies that need to be engaged in the dialogue process. At the micro level the actual suppliers of the educational services such as schools, colleges, universities and madaris are the stakeholders and need to be included in the dialogue process.

In addition to the above 3 groups of stakeholders the other important players are:

a) the Islamic financial services industry as the ultimate users of the educational services and human resources .

b) the international and regional donors that play an important role in capacity building.
