About the IFSD
Forums
The demand for
Islamic financial services is growing in several jurisdictions
worldwide and the industry has already become significant
systemically. The IFSD Forums initiated by General Council of
Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI) and IRTI in 2006
aim at providing a platform for strategic policy dialogue for
sharing country and institutional experiences with regard to
developing the various segments of the Islamic financial services
industry (IFSI); identifying key challenges of the industry's
different segments in an integrated manner and promoting
cooperation, knowledge sharing and partnership in alleviating the
challenges thus facilitating the industry’s orderly development,
competitiveness and stability.
Human Capital Development for
IFSI: Challenges & Initiatives
The IFSD Forum 2008
will highlight the role that various stakeholders at macro, meso and
micro levels need to play in developing the required human capital
for the IFSI. At the macro level, the most pertinent policy option
for dialogue is the introduction of Islamic finance courses at
various levels of the educational system. At the meso level, there
are key institutions engaged in capacity building such as
specialized training institutions, consultancy organizations and
professional bodies that need to be engaged in the dialogue process.
At the micro level the actual suppliers of the educational services
such as schools, colleges, universities and madaris are the
stakeholders and need to be included in the dialogue process. In
addition to the above 3 groups of stakeholders the other important
players are a) the Islamic financial services industry as the
ultimate users of the educational services and human resources and
b) the international and regional donors that play an important role
in capacity building.
The challenges and
initiatives will be addressed by the leaders of the industry and the
academia and other stakeholders in the following sequence:
